Description:

An important 18th century George II ebony veneered Dutch striking and musical bracket clock playing from a choice of twelve tunes on thirteen bells and twenty-three hammers.

The eight inch arched dial with twelve tunes engraved on a silvered arc over the engraved and painted age and phases of the moon.  The dial also with four subsidiary dials showing rise/fall regulation, strike/silent, chime/not chime and day of the week, all set within gilt spandrels and fine engraving.

The centre with makers’ signature and calendar. The substantial movement with seven pillars, verge escapement and rack striking the hours and Dutch striking at the half hour on two bells.  The music is played via a ten inch pinned barrel.
